We started the week Monday night where the Marksmen presented their weekly Turntable Unplugged at Tillmans Soul Lounge where Jay-Z & Diddy were chillin while DJ OP & Maya Azucena sang beautifully, as always rockin it. Later at SOBs Rich Medina had his Afro Disco event celebrating the birthday of Fela Kuti.

Tuesday night began with a live show by Q-Tip with a strong performance, then we went to the TripleFiveSoul & Imeem.com event where the Cool Kids performed and Moby did a guest set in the basement. We ended the night again at Tillmans at Be Easy with DJ Center, Logan & Demby.

What is a Wednesday in the City without Little Ricky’s @ APT with resident DJ Rich Medina followed by a busy Thursday starting in the evening with the Annual Spectre CMJ Event this year with special guest DJ Premier. The Get Down with DJ Spinna was next in the LES followed by a night-cap back at APT with Atlanta’s deep house don DJ Kai Alce.

Friday we got to spend the entire day with the Mrs. Yancey aka Ma Dukes, mother of the great J Dilla, starting in the morning at her “Legacies” CMJ panel and then the evening Stones Throw/Fat Beats event with Percee P, J-Live, Smif-N-Wessun and then our highlight of the week at Turn It Up!
