Hard to believe it’s been 10 years already since the inaugural Detroit Electronic Music Festival back in 2000, and despite its changing hands several times, 09 had a subtle feeling that something big is about to happen again both in Detroit and in electronic music (was it the great weather too?)… now being dubbed by influencers as the “Detroit Future Music Festival.”  Some of our fave performances @ Movement Festival this year came from Afrika Bambaataa, Flying Lotus, Exchange Bureau, Osunlade ft. Oveous Maximus, Kevin Reynolds, Carl Craig and Detroit House legends Al Ester and DJ Minx.  The ladies of Fusicology certainly had an amazing weekend re-connecting with all our hometown people!

The afterparty circuit had us bouncing as if it were WMC in Miami for a few nights, with hot sets from DJ E-Man, Karizma, Rick Wilhite, Spinna, Daz-I-Kue, Jeremy Ellis, John Arnold, Josh Adams, Scribe, Moonstarr, Arch_Typ, Billy Love, Tortured Soul, Family Funktion, Jeff Mills, Chuck Love, N’Dambi, Blue Neffertiti, Malik Alston, Chez Damier, Kai Alce, DJ Dez, and more – wow!

ERIC ROBERSON presents “Pave A New Road” – bonus track on a project called Rockin’ The Vote from My Muze and Rock The Vote. Quoting Eric, “With the state of the world today and all of the hopes we’re putting into the upcoming historical presidential election, I think the song is needed. I hope that you all will embrace it and spread the word about it.”

Tanya Morgan was one of 3 finalists in the Myspace/XM Radio “Show Us What Ya Got Contest. The 3 Finalists all received all expense paid trips to Las Vegas to perform with Chamillionaire and Talib Kweli where 3 judges would decide the winner based on their performance. Tanya Morgan would go onto win and one judge even went as far as saying they’re the “2008 Tribe Called Quest.” The guys are ecstatic as they prepare to release their next 2 projects “The Bridge” and “Brooklynati.” As reward they will receive a Myspace music feature, performances at Myspace secret shows, XM radio spins for 2-3 weeks, an all expense paid to Washington DC to interview on XM radio, a multi-city poster publicity campaign, and a mixtape with a yet to be announced high profile DJ. Amazing they’re still unsigned!
